Event Objectives

  • To create awareness among youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse on physical, mental, and social health.
  • To educate students on preventive measures and coping mechanisms against peer pressure and addiction.
  • To promote a culture of self-discipline, responsibility, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • To provide psychological insights and law enforcement perspectives regarding drug abuse.
  • To encourage youth to become ambassadors of a Drug-Free Society.

Proceedings

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Tulaskar Institute of Science and Technology, Hinganghat in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club organized an Awareness Program on Drug Abuse Prevention among Youth on 7th August 2025. The program aimed at sensitizing the students and staff about the ill effects of drug abuse and creating awareness regarding prevention strategies to build a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society.

The program was graced by eminent personalities. The Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker was Mr. Anurag Jain, Superintendent of Police, Wardha (IPS Officer). The Guest of Honor and Speaker was Mr. Mosam Phirke, Senior Psychiatrist. The event was held in the esteemed presence of Mrs. Kumud Vyas, President, Inner Wheel Club, Dr. Aparna Mude, Project Director, Inner Wheel Club, and Dr. Umesh P. Tulaskar, President, Vidya Vikas Education Society, Hinganghat.

a) Welcome Ceremony

The program began with a warm welcome address by the ICC Coordinator, who highlighted the relevance of the event. Dignitaries were felicitated with floral bouquets.

b) Chief Guest Address – Mr. Anurag Jain (IPS, Superintendent of Police, Wardha)

Mr. Jain delivered a powerful keynote speech focusing on the law enforcement perspective. He explained:

  • The legal framework (NDPS Act) and strict punishments for drug possession and trafficking.
  • Real-life incidents of how youth fall prey to drug addiction and its impact on their education, career, and family.
  • The importance of discipline, vigilance, and good company in a student’s life.
  • His appeal to students to stay away from drugs and instead focus on being responsible citizens who contribute positively to society.

 

c) Guest of Honor Session – Mr. Mosam Phirke (Senior Psychiatrist)

Mr. Phirke presented a psychological and medical perspective on drug abuse. He highlighted:

  • How drugs affect the brain, memory, decision-making, and mental health.
  • Early warning signs of addiction and how timely intervention can save lives.
  • The link between stress, depression, and substance abuse, along with healthy coping mechanisms.
  • The role of counselling, therapy, and community support in rehabilitation.

 

d) Special Addresses by Dignitaries

  • Mrs. Kumud Vyas (President, Inner Wheel Club) emphasized the role of families and social organizations in guiding youth.
  • Dr. Aparna Mude (Project Director, Inner Wheel Club) spoke on the importance of awareness campaigns to build a supportive environment for students.
  • Dr. Umesh P. Tulaskar Sir (President, Vidya Vikas Education Society) inspired students to be disciplined, adopt moral values, and take leadership roles in spreading awareness about drug prevention.

                                                    

e) Interactive Session

An interactive Q&A session followed, where students asked practical questions related to peer pressure, stress management, and rehabilitation options. Both Mr. Jain and Mr. Phirke provided realistic and practical guidance, making the session very impactful.

f) Conclusion and Vote of Thanks

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests, Innerwheel Club members, management, staff, and enthusiastic students for making the program successful.

  • Students gained awareness about the serious consequences of drug abuse on personal health, family, and society.
  • Participants understood the legal implications and strict actions taken under law against drug trafficking and consumption.
  • Students received guidance from a psychiatrist regarding early detection, psychological impact, and the importance of seeking help.
